Engine Reconditioning
& Repairs
We will always first attempt to recondition your existing engine if it is still in serviceable condition. Otherwise, a hole in the block say, we fit a shelf reconditioned unit.

The ten-stage process
Every reconditioned engine, no matter what.

Strip and clean
Fully stripped to individual components. Head and block cleaned including the oil galleries; components through a specialist hot pressure parts washer.

Inspect and measure
Everything inspected and measured, with notes taken ready for the machinist.

Engineer / machinist
Crank, block and head go to South Wales Piston Services, the number one engine machinist in south Wales for over 45 years.

The cylinder head
Head stripped, valves replaced or re-cut, valve stem seals replaced, then skimmed and pressure tested.

The block
Bores honed, block and its face checked over.

The crankshaft
Reground and polished, then measured for a brand-new bearing set to fit.

The pistons
Cleaned, measured and inspected; piston rings replaced with new.

Assembling / timing
Our in-house engineer assembles the engine with a new oil pump and full timing chain or belt kit, guides and tensioners, new gaskets, crank seals and head bolts.

Timing and torque
Everything torqued and timed to the manufacturer’s specification.

Final inspection and test
Compression and free movement checked, then marked and stamped ready for the fitters or the customer.
Depending on the extent of the damage, your engine may need additional work: new liners, new pistons, a re-bore, oversized pistons. This is always discussed with you first.
Standard
6 months / 10,000 miles
Return-to-base warranty on every reconditioned engine.
Gold standard upgrade
12 months / 12,000 miles
New pistons, re-bored cylinders and new valves, plus new turbo, DPF cleaned, new injectors and water pump. Returns the vehicle to almost original condition.
